Position Summary: This dual role is responsible to be the primary driver of the Mobile Health Center to safely and efficiently transport a team of health care professionals including: (2) Health Care Assistants and (1) Clinician and to be the primary Security role during the affiliate’s (ICP) In-Clinic Procedure days to ensure the safe flow of patient care, identify any potential security concerns, and ensure the de-escalation of any potential security issues.
Essential Functions: Safely operate Mobile Health Unit with strong understanding of all vehicle systems and functions.
Ensure safety of all passengers.
Obeys all traffic laws and limits.
Responsible for maintenance of Mobile Health Unit to ensure vehicle is clean and operates effectively.
Visually inspects and manually tests Mobile Health Unit prior to departure and before accepting passengers.
Maintains and operates communications devices, emergency response and contingency equipment (i.
e.
, fire extinguisher, flares or reflectors, chains, shovel, blankets, survival supplies defensive and diversionary devices, etc.
).
Coordinates and plans efficient driving routes for the day’s schedule based on the community locations that are scheduled to be visited.
Serves as the primary security representative on site at the Health Center during ICP (In-clinic Procedure) days to ensure patient and staff safety, and ensure operational cohesiveness Continually surveils and is aware of any potential concerns; identifies and works to escalate any concerns and appropriately contacts and notifies the Supervisor, Vice President, IT and Facilities Infrastructure and Director of Facilities and Security and escalates to local law enforcement, as needed.
Determines primary and alternative routes to be followed; analyzes routes to identify safe zones, choke points, danger zones and zones of total predictability.
Understands and practices surveillance detection and pre-attack recognition and avoidance skills.
Strong understanding of and ability to use non-lethal defensive skills and equipment.
Ability to act in the event of a medical emergency occurring to passengers in route.
Other duties as assigned.
Non-Essential Functions: Assume additional responsibilities and perform other duties as directed by the Vice President, IT and Facilities Infrastructure.
Regularly checks personal PPHP e-mail account for important affiliate-related communications, at least every 24 hours.
Qualifications: Skills, Experience, Education and Licensure.
Possesses and always maintains a valid New York State Driver’s license with no restrictions.
Prior experience in a security, law enforcement, or military police setting preferred.
Prior professional driving experience preferred.
Valid security license strongly preferred, but not required.
Security Guard (unarmed) as per NYS requirements, the individual in the role will be responsible to complete the following in the first year of employment.
Section 89-G of Article 7A requires all persons engaged in security guard activities be registered with the New York Department of State (DOS) and complete all training (unless exempt) at schools approved by the Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).
The following training courses are required: Initial Training Requirements: 8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training- A general introductory course.
You must complete this course and submit a copy of the certificate issued to you with your security guard application.
16 Hour On-The-Job Training (OJT) - A course relevant to the duties of guards, requirements of the work site, and the needs of the employer.
You must complete this training within 90 days of employment as a security guard.
Annual Training Requirement: 8 Hour Annual In-Service Training - This course must be completed each calendar year you hold a security guard registration.
Your registration is issued for two years; therefore, you must complete two 8 Hour Annual In-Service training courses within your registration effective and expiration dates to be eligible for renewal.
