*Position Overview:*
The Communications and Marketing Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing all aspects of communication, marketing, branding and outreach for the synagogue.
This position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy, maintaining the synagogue's brand identity, and ensuring effective communication with members, prospective members, and the broader community.
The communications role will handle project management, overseeing our weekly digital newsletter, managing website content and maintenance, and ensuring effective communication timing.
Additionally, this position provides support and assistance for major synagogue events throughout the year.
*Key Responsibilities:*
*Communications Strategy, Calendar, and Branding:*
* Develop and execute a strategic communications plan aligned with the synagogue's mission and goals.
* Create an annual communications calendar that outlines key messaging and promotional activities.
* Maintain and reinforce the synagogue's brand identity across all communication channels.
* Develop, plan for, and react to crisis communication needs as necessary.
*Weekly Communications/Messaging/Newsletter:*
* Prepare and distribute the weekly e-newsletter “ Kesher” and as-needed announcements to keep members informed about synagogue events, programs, and news.
* Craft engaging and relevant messaging to engage the synagogue's audience.
* Working with key leaders ensures timely and consistent delivery of communication materials.
*Website:*
* Manage and update the synagogue's website with current and relevant content.
* Strategize long-term website content and functionality, interface between website, social media, membership, and development areas.
* Work with staff, clergy and the content management systems to improve website functionality and design.
* Monitor and analyze website traffic and user engagement to optimize the online experience.
*Event Communications/Promotions/Signage:*
* Coordinate promotional efforts for synagogue events and programs and liaison with program owners.
* Design and produce both printable and digital signage and promotional materials for events and initiatives.
* Ensure event information is communicated effectively to the target audience.
*Oversight of Public Relations, Social Media, and Design Vendors:*
* Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors responsible for public relations, graphic design, and social media.
* Provide direction and guidance to ensure the synagogue's messaging and branding are consistent across all platforms.
* Monitor social media channels and respond to comments, inquiries, and feedback.
* Design online and hard copy flyers for synagogue events.
*Project Management*:
* Manage various communication projects from concept to execution, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
* Coordinate with internal stakeholders, such as clergy, staff, and volunteers, to gather information and assets for communication materials.
* Implement project management tools and techniques to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
*Interface with the Clergy Team, Programming Departments, and Lay Leaders:*
* Collaborate closely with the clergy team to align communication efforts with the synagogue's spiritual and educational goals.
* Work with various programming departments to promote and communicate their activities effectively and in a timely manner.
* Engage with lay leaders to gather input and ensure their initiatives receive appropriate support and visibility.
*Qualifications:*
* Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
* Proven experience (5-8 years) in communications and marketing roles, preferably in a religious or nonprofit organization.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in digital marketing, including social media management and email marketing platforms.
* Graphic design skills and familiarity with design software (e.
g.
, Adobe Creative Suite or Canva or Figma)
* Experience with ShulCloud is a plus.
* Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse stakeholders.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Flexibility to work on major Jewish holidays, compensated with a day off.
* Passion for the mission and values of the Synagogue.
* Understanding and appreciation of Jewish Culture and Religion is a positive but not a requirement if willing to learn.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.
00 - $60,000.
