*United Cargo Management* is looking for motivated individuals who are dedicated to customer satisfaction and are ready to help assist grow company's ocean freight business.
Majority of the products we use daily are either imported or made from imported materials.
If you would like to be part of this experience and also get to know how these items make their journey from the manufacturer all the way to store shelves, this position will help you understand how supply chain works while earning a living at it.
*Recent grads are welcome, *_For candidates with no experience,_UCM will provide all necessary tools to help the sales department grow.
While the position is for inside sales, there is opportunity to grow into outside sales and eventually independent sales manager roles.
----------------------------------------- *The responsibilities of the position will include but not limited to:* - Generate leads by making initial contact, gathering clients needs, targets and trade lanes and work with senior sales and marketing team to turn these potential clients into customers.
- Introduce United Cargo Management to importers by utilizing the competitive rates and variety of service schedules provided by the sales management.
- Build SOPs based on customer’s needs, and make necessary adjustments when required.
- Help prepare quotes for overseas agent rate requests, trucking rates, LCL/FCL rates, Container Freight Stations (CFS) and other related service costs.
- Provide basic customer service and answer general questions of the customers, and work closely with operations department to ensure service quality and communication.
- Be ready to join client meetings, attend internal sales meetings, and work with senior sales department to devise pre-meeting strategies.
- Eventually travel for in-person meetings, presentations, trade shows or via phone/video calls, while establishing trust with clients.
- Maintain a close eye on market trends, conditions, and international trade, and utilize the changes to plan strategies.
- Keep close contact with customers, monitor their shipment performance and make calls when necessary to help explain the market situation and present alternatives when necessary.
- Get familiar with customer needs and offer services that cater to their requirements.
----------------------------------------- *Ideal candidate would:* - Have at least 2 years of college (AS or AAS Degree) - Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- No sales or freight forwarding experience required, but some exposure to Ocean Freight shipping or supply chain is preferred, such as Operations Departments in NVOCC or Customer Service in carrier/trucker/freight forwarder.
- Be fully vaccinated and not have any limitation to working in-office at our Whitestone, NY location.
- Know how to use Excel, Outlook and basic online services, be able to independently calculate costing with minimal supervision, and operate Windows based computers with general knowledge of day to day tasks such as generating PDF, and be familiar with basic cloud storage systems such as Dropbox or Microsoft Sharepoint, Outlook, etc.
Be able to adapt to using CRM tools for sales and lead follow up.
- Know how to quickly move from planning to execution and does not linger over small bumps and be proud of their organizational skills.
- Be able to prepare reports to outline daily work.
- Demonstrate what they learn from the training at each milestone and be able to fully grasp the basics of the industry within short time.
----------------------------------------- Each candidate is expected to work on small accounts initially and be able to maintain clients ranging $5,000 to $75,000 in revenue per year.
Compensation $42,000 to $60,000 starting salary based on experience, and once generating business, there will be commission and monthly expense allowance.
Once grown into full time outside sales role, candidate will eventually earn the right be assigned cellphone, laptop and allowance for sales visits.
Initially position is in-office, 9:00AM to 5:30PM.
