The Pace Women’s Justice Center is an independently funded legal services center within the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, under the 501(c) (3) nonprofit status of Pace University.
Founded in 1991, it was the first academic legal center in the country devoted to training attorneys and others on domestic violence issues.
The Center’s mission is to end abuse by providing innovative legal programs including direct legal representation for victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse, training, community education and outreach, service coordination, and information and referrals.
Today, with a staff of 36 and over 10,000 hours contributed annually by pro-bono attorneys, volunteers, and law students, the Center provides direct legal services to over 3,100 victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse and conducts over 140 training and outreach events each year.
PWJC is seeking a Development and Communications Manager who is committed to the Center’s mission and work.
This is a full -time position in the Center’s development department.
The Manager will work with the Development Director, the Executive Director, and other staff to support fundraising and other aspects of resource development, manage organizational branding, and develop and coordinate communications efforts for the organization.
The Development and Communications Manager is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and support functions related to fundraising and development to increase the funding and visibility of the Center, its programs and advocacy efforts.
Responsibilities will include event planning staffing and support, donor relations support, developing and coordinating the Center marketing materials, and maintenance and updating of the Center’s website content and social media platforms.
In addition, the Manager will be responsible for the Center’s fundraising database, and may also be involved with grant writing and grant management.
This position will require attendance at occasional evening or early-morning events.
This postion is based in PWJC’s main office, located in White Plains, and allows for a hyrbird work schedule of 3 days in person in office and 2 days remote work.
Position Duties Management of office-wide donor database, including updating records, running reports, and keeping data consistent across multiple mediums (eg: Constant Contact, Pace University’s database, etc.
).
Execute donor and prospect communications, which may include mail appeals, e-appeals, newsletters, and annual reports.
Manage all aspects of social media ( Facebook, Twitter, e-blasts, etc.
) and develop improved ways to increase effectiveness of social media strategies.
Develop and manage content for website.
Ensure accurate record-keeping and acknowledgement of contributions.
Conduct gift- tracking and provide donor acknowledgment letters.
Coordinate Center fundraising events.
Support media relations by writing press releases and developing press and media contact lists.
Attend and actively participate in required educational programs, departmental meetings and staff meetings.
Grant writing for foundation grants, and research for appropriate funding opportunities.
Attend and support Board meetings with Center staff and Advisory Board.
Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Position Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree required.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented and strong editing skills.
At least three years nonprofit fundraising, communication, and/or marketing experience strongly recommended.
Prior office work/administrative experience strongly preferred, including event coordination, database management and office administration.
Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite; e-mail programs, such as Constant Contact; web content-management systems.
Video and photo editing software and database software a plus.
Proficiency in a professional capacity with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter.
Proficiency with fundraising software.
Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
Graphic design familiarity preferred (for example, experience using Canva).
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and team environment.
Outgoing and professional demeanor for interacting with a wide range of individuals from different cultures and backgrounds.
Work Hours Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM with additional hours as needed along with ability to work occasional early morning or after work hours.
